Come one, come all to chilly Rockland Lake on January 31 – February 1, 2026 as the Knickerbocker Ice Festival happily returns to Rockland County in celebration of our great country’s 250th anniversary and of Rockland Lake’s unique beauty and history as the one-time epicenter of a global trade that long ago sent frozen blocks of ice harvested at Rockland Lake to far flung lands like London, Australia, and even Asia and South Africa!
Be amazed as huge ice sculptures celebrating our local and national heritage are being made by some of the finest ice sculptors in the nation. Watch as igloos are made from snow made right on site. Warm yourself and meet a neighbor at one of our warm campfires, and watch as the ice chimney creates an unforgettable bonfire at dusk.
Just as no fine dining establishment or hotel during New York City’s Gilded Era would serve anything other than Knickerbocker Ice from Rockland Lake, no smart Hudson Valley resident of today should pass up the chance to shed their winter blues and show some genuine warmth for each other.

The park’s northern pavilion will feature huge enlargements of historic postcards depicting Rockland Lake’s incredible history, and visitors will be stunned to see incredibly rare footage shot by Thomas Edison and projected ten feet tall depicting all phases of our ancestors harvesting ice at Rockland Lake more than 125 years ago.
