STAMFORD — Spire Orthopedic Partners has appointed Dr. Shaden Marzouk as CEO, the company announced May 4.
Dr. Marzouk brings significant experience leading large, multi-site healthcare platforms, with a focus on scaling operations, strengthening physician alignment, and expanding access to high-quality care. She has a track record of building and growing physician-led organizations while maintaining a focus on clinical excellence and operational discipline.
“Shaden is a proven leader with deep experience across scaled healthcare organizations,” said Robert Cucuel, interim CEO of Spire Orthopedic Partners. “Her ability to partner with physicians and grow integrated care platforms makes her well suited to lead Spire as we continue to expand and build on our strong foundation.”
Cucuel has filled in as interim CEO since Christopher Fusco left in February after 3 ½ years in the role. He had served with the company since its inception in 2019 as a single orthopedic practice in Greenwich.

Most recently, Dr. Marzouk served as CEO of GenesisCare, where she led initiatives to support growth and enhance operational performance. Prior to that, she served as president and CEO of Care Delivery at Anthem (now Elevance Health), overseeing a large, diversified care delivery portfolio. She has also held senior leadership roles at AXA and Cardinal Health, with responsibility spanning strategy, operations, and clinical leadership.
Marzouk began her career as a neurosurgeon and served as a major in the U.S. Army. She holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, an MD from St. Louis University School of Medicine, and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis. She serves on multiple boards and advises companies in AI and health technology.
The Spire network spans the Northeast with more than 170 physicians, 2,000 employees, 285 other clinical providers and 40 locations and five ambulatory surgery centers in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
