The Music Conservatory of Westchester raised $245,000 in net proceeds at its 16th annual Golf & Tennis Classic at Brae Burn Country Club in Purchase.
The event began with a round of golf and tennis followed by an awards dinner. This year”™s entertainment was emceed by Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis and featured performances by fellow Tony nominees Robert Cuccioli and Mary Bridget Davies. Awards were presented to conservatory board vice president Laurence Keiser, the entertainers, Chazz and Gianna Palminteri, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Darlene Love.
The conservatory this year established the Darlene Love Vocal Scholarship, and the first recipient was a voice student from Hawthorne, Alice Cabral.
Chazz and Gianna Palminteri received the Arts Achievement and Community Leadership Award. He has more than 50 film credits and received an Oscar nomination for his role in Woody Allen”™s “Bullets Over Broadway.” Palminteri wrote and co-starred in “A Bronx Tale.”
“This was the most successful event the conservatory has had in the 22 years I”™ve been here,” Executive Director Jean Newton said. The total raised is expected to increase as additional contributions come in. There were 120 golf players on the greens and the 300-seat ballroom was filled to capacity for the dinner, entertainment and awards ceremony.
