Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is honoring its 2025 Physician of the Year and Nurse Manager of the Year, two outstanding leaders who embody the key principles of professional excellence and leadership.
Monique Misra, M.D., was named the 2025 Physician of the Year at the annual Medical Staff dinner in May. As the executive director of hospitalist services, Misra plays a vital leadership role, overseeing the operations, strategy and clinical quality of the hospitalist team who care for patients at Bridgeport Hospital. She ensures high-quality, efficient and evidence-based inpatient care. She is also the first female medical staff president for Bridgeport Hospital.
“With her visionary approach, Dr. Misra has elevated the standard of hospital medicine within Bridgeport Hospital,” said Victor Morris, M.D., chief medical officer. “She has championed quality initiatives that have reduced length of stay, improved care transitions and enhanced overall patient experience, all while serving as an advocate for our providers to ensure they have the support they need to deliver exceptional patient care.”
Pamela D’Ambrosio, RN, was named the 2025 Nurse Manager of the Year at the Evening of Nursing and Philanthropy held during Nurses Week. D’Ambrosio, who serves as the nurse manager for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), embodies what it means to be an ideal nurse manager. She focuses on results and insists on excellence, with a laser focus on priorities that resonate hospitalwide, emphasizing infection prevention, fall prevention and the safety of both nurses and patients during care.
“Her commitment, vision, sense of urgency and unwavering support for her staff have revolutionized the way the unit functions,” said Mary Christoffersen, DNP, RN, chief nursing officer. “She has built group cohesiveness and pride and when you look around the unit, you see more smiles, more effort and most importantly, better outcomes for our patients, all thanks to her leadership.”
Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, is a nonprofit 501-bed acute care hospital with two campuses (plus 42 beds licensed to Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital). Both Bridgeport Hospital and the Milford Campus of Bridgeport Hospital serve patients throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties. The Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital is the only burn center in the state and one of only 64 verified burn centers in the United States.
