Legal Hand Westchester, based at Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law in White Plains, recently hosted its annual Volunteer Luncheon bringing together volunteers, community leaders and supporters to celebrate the organization’s impact across Westchester County.
The event recognized the vital contributions of Legal Hand’s volunteers, whose work helps provide free legal information, guidance and referrals to residents navigating issues such as housing, family matters and access to public benefits. Through its open-door model —serving all visitors without eligibility restrictions — Legal Hand Westchester has supported thousands of individuals seeking to better understand and address legal and social challenges.
“Access to reliable legal information can be life-changing,” said Dean Horace E. Anderson Jr. “Our volunteers are at the heart of this work, ensuring that every person who walks through our doors is met with respect, care and meaningful support, giving our visitors hope.”
The luncheon also acknowledged the continued advocacy of New York Senator Shelley Mayer, Assemblymember Dana Levenberg, and Assemblymember MaryJane Shimsky, whose partnership has helped strengthen community-based legal services throughout the region.
Beyond Legal Hand Westchester, Pace Haub Law continues to expand its impact through a robust network of experiential learning opportunities under the John Jay Legal Services Inc. umbrella. The law school’s clinics — including the Amelia A. Gould Representation in Mediation Clinic, Barbara C. Salken Criminal Justice Clinic, Environmental Litigation Clinic, Equal Justice America Disability Rights Clinic, Fairbridge Investor Rights Clinic, Food and Farm Business Law Clinic, and Immigration Justice Clinic—provide students with hands-on legal training while advancing access to justice across a wide range of practice areas.
As the need for accessible legal support continues to grow, Legal Hand Westchester remains committed to expanding its reach and deepening its impact — ensuring more Westchester residents can navigate the systems that affect their daily lives.
Founded in 1906 and celebrating 120 years of preparing students for success in 2026, Pace University pairs real-life learning with strong academics to launch meaningful careers. With campuses in New York City and Westchester County, Pace serves 13,600 students across a range of bachelor, master and doctoral programs.
