Each year, Teacher Appreciation Week, held during the first full week of May, provides an opportunity to recognize the immense contributions educators make to our communities. Optimum, the leading provider of fiber internet and mobile and TV services, has donated $4,000 to Westchester County educators through its partnership with national education nonprofit DonorsChoose.
Through this donation, 20 educators from Westchester County received a $200 DonorsChoose gift card, which they can redeem on the DonorsChoose platform to purchase tools, technologies and experiences that enhance learning opportunities and support student success.
The gift cards will be distributed at The STEM Alliance’s annual STEM-tastic event, a free festival for over 1,000 people that brings STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math – to life with dozens of hands-on activities for children.
Optimum also honored educators from the following schools with a DonorsChoose gift card:
Amani Public Charter School
John F. Kennedy Elementary School
King Street School
Mamaroneck Avenue School
Mamaroneck High School
New Rochelle High School
Port Chester Middle School
Thomas A. Edison Elementary School, all part of Optimum’s ongoing efforts to support education and community engagement. The company continues to find new ways to provide access to tools, technologies and experiences to teachers and students across its service area. This includes expanding access to high-quality internet for those who need it, inspiring the next generation of innovators through programs focused on STEM and education, and supporting, understanding and celebrating what makes each of local community unique.
