BROOKFIELD – The town is experiencing a growth surge due to its revitalization efforts to work with companies looking to relocate or expand their business in town.
“Brookfield has experienced a higher than historical-average growth since potable water mains were installed along the Federal Road corridor about 15 years ago,” said Greg Dembowski, Brookfield economic development director. “Since 2016, 705 housing units were built at 13 multi-housing developments all on Federal Road. This growth was accelerated with the revitalization plan that was created when the town wrote its 2015 Plan of Conservation and Development.”
That plan included zoning regulation changes that allowed for mixed use development, he added. “Along with the housing development came two new grocery stores, dozens of retail, medical, personal care and professional businesses, light manufacturing and restaurants,” he said.
Recently, the town celebrated the grand opening of three new businesses: a family-focused swim instruction center, a family-owned and operated restaurant, and a premier wine and spirits retailer.
“Brookfield continues to demonstrate smart, sustainable growth that benefits residents and businesses alike,” said Maura Ruby, President & CEO of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce.
LIVE2SWIM
LIVE2SWIM, located at 94 Old State Road, is a children’s year-round swim school with a mission to teach lifesaving swimming skills in an environment that’s clean, comfortable, and designed entirely for kids. “It’s an honor to bring LIVE2SWIM to Brookfield. We’re excited to join this amazing community and to play a role in helping children build lifelong water safety skills, confidence, and a true love for swimming,” said Dylan Elkind, principal.
The building was renovated to include a new viewing area, shower and rest room facilities, a new game room, and more.

Brookfield Grill
Brookfield Grill is a family-run restaurant located at 450 Federal Road offering a diverse menu that includes steak, fish, chicken, a raw bar, salads, a kids’ menu, and a vast dessert menu.
“Our family has been in the restaurant business for 35 years and we are proud to have one of the area’s best chefs on our team,” said Avni Brahimaj.
Ruby, who attended the grand opening of the restaurant, described the business as complementary to Brookfield.
“It’s always wonderful to support a family-run business,” Ruby said. “The owners have crafted a quality menu that will satisfy a wide range of tastes, from family dining to more refined options. This thoughtful addition highlights the kind of businesses that contribute to Brookfield’s vibrant community.”

Total Wine & More, America’s Wine Superstore
Total Wine & More, America’s Wine Superstore, is the country’s largest independent retailer of fine wine. The 25,000-squre-foot store offers a vast wine selection with an emphasis on fine wines. Most stores carry more than 8,000 different wines from every wine-producing region in the world. In addition, the store is known for featuring more than 2,500 beers, from America’s most popular brands to hard-to-find microbrews and imports, and more than 3,000 different spirits. In addition, the space has a cigar shop and a sizable workshop/event space.
Brookfield’s revitalization efforts include strategic infrastructure investments and zoning updates that are appealing to dynamic companies which in turn are supporting the town’s diverse and growing local economy.
“Three residential developments will be opening before the end of 2025,” Dembowski said. “They are: The Willows at Brookfield at 518 Federal Rd, Overland Crossing at 101 Laurel Hill Road and Marin Village at 468 Federal Road. Property managers are accepting applications, and it has been reported more than 180 individuals have expressed interest. We are encouraging growth in areas that bring jobs to the town.”
