Susan Cacace, who retired last week after 19 years as a Westchester judge, had announced her candidacy for Westchester district attorney.
“I feel that I’m the strongest candidate,” said Cacace in an interview with News 12 Westchester. “I feel like I have the most experience. I know the office. I know the players in the office. I know the players in the community, the stakeholders in the community. I believe I could get everyone to work together to bring Westchester to a better place.”
Cacace, a Democrat, was an assistant district attorney and a criminal defense lawyer prior to becoming a judge. District Attorney Mimi Rocah has announced she will not seek a second term.
Cacace is the latest candidate for Rocah’s position – attorneys William Wagstaff, Adeel Mirza and Sheralyn Pulver Goodman have announced their candidacies and Pulver Goodman, the administrator for the Westchester Independent Office of Assigned Counsel, and Mamaroneck PayPal executive Dave Szuchman are also looking to get into the Democratic primary, which is slated for next June.
