Hannah Giles has stepped down as CEO of the Mamaroneck-based conservative media group Project Veritas.
“I am stepping down from all roles with Project Veritas and Project Veritas Action — effective immediately,” Giles said in a statement published on social media. “Though I had hopes when I joined the organizations, I stepped into an unsalvageable mess — one wrought with strong evidence of past illegality and past financial improprieties. Once such evidence was uncovered, I brought the information to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Thank you.”
Giles became CEO after founder James O’Keefe was removed earlier this year by the organization’s board of directors, which accused him of significant mismanagement, including the use of the Project Veritas funds for lavish personal spending and the harassment of female employees. Giles had worked with O’Keefe on Project Veritas’ undercover projects which were designed to embarrass progressive media and nonprofits.
Giles did not offer further elaboration regarding the problems within Project Veritas that fueled her decision to leave.
