FAIRFIELD — Fairfield University’s Class of 2029 is the most selective in recent history with an admit rate of 25%, the college announced Monday.
This year, the Jesuit Catholic university received applications from a pool of 21,290 students representing over 3,410 high schools across 49 states (including D.C. and Puerto Rico) and 92 countries. That is a 15% increase over the Class of 2028 with a total number of 18,502 applications and a 38% increase from two years ago, when 15,450 applications were received.
This year’s admissions cycle also marks a significant shift in selectivity. With Fairfield’s ongoing commitment to maintaining an incoming first-year class size of 1,450 students, the overall admit rate has decreased to 25%.
The Class of 2029 includes an average weighted GPA of 3.90 and middle 50% SAT range for those who submitted scores: 1,310-1,420.
“We are truly blessed to have received applications from such an incredibly talented group of students,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management Corry Unis. “The growth in applications and early decision admits reflects not only the strength of our academic programs, but also the increasing recognition of Fairfield’s commitment to developing the whole person — mind, body, and spirit.”
Fairfield University remains dedicated to providing a rigorous academic experience rooted in the Ignatian tradition, that encourages intellectual curiosity, the development of ethical leadership, and a deep sense of social responsibility. Incoming students of the Class of 2029 will build upon Fairfield’s legacy through their contributions, while advancing the mission of service and justice that define a Jesuit education.
