This Saturday, April 13 the Girl Scouts of Connecticut will host its inaugural “Make the World a Better Place Maker Faire” at Sacred Heart University’s Discovery Science Center and Planetarium in Bridgeport.
The event will run from 1 to 4pm and will encourage girls of all ages to create inventions that will further the organization’s mission of making the world a better place.
“Our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place has not changed, but our organization’s focus on science, technology, engineering, and math has exponentially increased in recent years as more females are exploring and entering careers within STEM fields,” said Diana Mahoney, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Connecticut in a press release. “Our organization introduces girls of every age to unique STEM experiences relevant to everyday life. Whether they’re discovering how a car’s engine runs, how to manage finances, or how to build an airplane, girls are reaching new heights as they fast-forward into the future!”
Activities will include robot races, chances to design both aircraft and the Girl Scout uniform of the future, and inspirational sessions with young women who already have STEM careers.
Tickets are $10 for members of Girl Scouts of Connecticut. Tickets are $55 for non-members, but this price includes a $45 one year membership that provides access to future events hosted by the organization.
