UBS AG reportedly is planning to cut an additional 5,000 jobs worldwide by the end of the year, with an undisclosed impact on its regional office in Stamford.
The company did not immediately confirm the cuts, which was reported by the Zurich newspaper Sonntag.
In separate news, Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC hinted at additional job cuts, after stating its 2008 losses at between $32 billion and $40 billion.
The bank is completing construction of an office building in Stamford designed to accommodate more than 2,000 workers. RBS plans to relocate workers from Greenwich and New York City to the facility.
