John Kelly: General John Kelly, who was the White House Chief of Staff during Donald Trump’s presidency from 2017 to 2019 says Trump is a fascist and doesn’t understand the U.S. Constitution. Kelly told The New York Times and The Atlantic magazine that while in the White House Trump expressed his admiration for German dictator Adolf Hitler and wished that he had generals like Hitler had who were loyal to Hitler rather than the country and the German people. Kelly said he explained to Trump that some of Hitler’s generals tried to assassinate him.
Eminem: Rapper Eminem joined Former President Barack Obama at a Democratic rally in Detroit last night and endorsed the ticket of Vice President Harris and Tim Walz. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, blasted Trump’s plans for retribution against his critics. Mathers said no one should want to live in a country where you have to be afraid to express your views. He said it’s important for people to vote for Harris and Walz and express their support for free speech.
Smear: An official of the U.S. Office of the Director of Intelligence has told reporters that Russia posted a fake video created using artificial intelligence that smears Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz. The official said that the Russian fake video was seen on Elon Musk’s site X, formerly known as Twitter. U.S. intelligence officials expressed concern that Russia as well as Iran may use disinformation campaigns to try to spark violence between election day and the day the election is certified through counting the electoral ballots.
North Korean troops: Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed today that North Korea has sent troops to Russia but he didn’t have an explanation of why. The U.S. has intelligence reports showing that thousands of North Korean soldiers have been transported to Russia by troop ships, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in Rome today. South Korea had reported that North Korean soldiers were being sent to Russia and then dispatched to fight alongside Russian soldiers in Ukraine.
McDonald’s: McDonald’s has stopped selling its Quarter Pounder burgers in at least 10 states following an E. coli outbreak that is believed to be related to contaminated onions or beef. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that at least 49 people in 10 states have gotten sick and one elderly person died. Most of the illnesses were in Colorado and Nebraska. Ten people were hospitalized. Victims reported eating Quarter Pounders at McDonald’s before becoming sick.
Rudy Giuliani: Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been ordered by a federal judge in Manhattan to turn over some assets to the two Georgia election workers he defamed as part of settling the $148 million judgment the workers won against Giuliani. Giuliani was ordered to turn over to them his apartment that has been valued at $5 million, his claim to $2 million that Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign still owes him, sports memorabilia and a 1980 Mercedes that was once owned by actress Lauren Bacall. The judge said the election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea Moss can sell the items.
