CareMount Medical has dedicated its pathology laboratory in memory of its inaugural Pathology Lab Director Barbara A. Winkler, M.D. The Dr. Barbara Winkler Pathology Laboratory is located at CareMount”™s Mount Kisco office and is a full-service pathology laboratory licensed by the state of New York.
“In memory of her service as CareMount”™s founding pathologist, we are honored to name CareMount”™s pathology laboratory after Dr. Barbara Winkler,” said Scott D. Hayworth M.D., president and CEO of CareMount Medical. “We are deeply saddened to have lost Dr. Winkler earlier this year; however, this laboratory will forever be remembered for the leadership she provided during her years at CareMount Medical.”
Winkler served as CareMount Medical”™s first pathology lab director from 2009-2017. During her tenure, she initiated the pathology department”™s use of advanced technologies and techniques to provide accurate and timely diagnoses for patients of the CareMount community. Board certified in pathology and anatomic pathology, Winkler received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1978. She completed her internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in 1979, and completed her residency in anatomic pathology in 1981, and her fellowship in obstetrics and gynecology pathology in 1983, both at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Dr. David Enrique Monsanto, and her daughter, Gabriela Monsanto.
