To better address the philanthropic needs in the Hudson Valley, Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (CFHV) has expanded its advisory committees to include an additional 20 members from Dutchess, Ulster and Putnam counties. These volunteers and local leaders bring diverse experience, deep connections and a shared passion for strengthening the Hudson Valley. Their work will amplify the mission and values of CFHV. By listening closely to community voices, CFHV aims to ensure it is responding to needs identified by residents while continuing to support a range of local priorities.
“Understanding local issues through the eyes of the residents helps strengthen our efforts in addressing community needs,” said Laura Washington, president and CEO of CFHV. “As our organization continues to evolve, our advisory committee members’ ideas and passion for enhancing our communities will pave the way for us to make effective change.”
Each advisory committee plays a vital role in supporting CFHV’s overall mission by serving as community liaisons and identifying key opportunities in Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster counties. Committee members leverage their personal and professional connections to engage with local nonprofits, charitable individuals and business leaders, ensuring that CFHV’s initiatives align with community needs. They also play an essential role in the grant review process, helping to ensure that CFHV’s funds are directed toward high-impact projects and deserving organizations. Their involvement not only enhances outreach efforts but also fosters stronger relationships, allowing CFHV to respond effectively to the unique challenges and opportunities within the Hudson Valley.
From Dutchess County, 15 new members include Pamela Governale, G. Angela Henry, Susan Kavy, Maureen Lashlee, Gaye Mallet, Gina McCann, John Nelson, Jorge Luis Paniagua Valle, Isabella Paquette, Phil Rosenbloom, Trish Santini, Karen Unger, Toby Usnik, Ayoka Wiles, and Francine Wizner.
From Ulster County, three representatives include Frances Knutsen, Nica Lalli, and Julie Stoil Fernandez, and from Putnam County, Lisa Hunter Rasic and Tatiana Kaletsch will lend their expertise.
Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (CFHV) is a trusted partner in philanthropy, empowering individuals, families, businesses and organizations to establish charitable funds that address the needs of Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster counties. CFHV offers expert planning that aligns charitable giving with both personal priorities and community needs. Established in 1969 as the Area Fund, CFHV has grown to manage over $100 million in assets and administers nearly 600 charitable funds, distributing over $11.3 million in grants and scholarships in 2023 alone. As a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), contributions to CFHV are tax-deductible within IRS guidelines.
