LMC Media in Mamaroneck, New York, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the M&T Charitable Foundation. The funding is specifically designated to support the organization’s flagship youth media educational initiative The Future Filmmaker Project and to also support LMC’s newest program The LMC Creator Lab.
These programs provide local high school students and aspiring digital creators with the technical tools, mentorship and platforms necessary to master the art of visual storytelling. By investing in these programs, The M&T Charitable Foundation is helping to bridge the gap between passion and professional skill-building in the local community.
“We are happy to continue to support and invest in LMC Media’s youth media programs,” said Rachel Tarascio, vice president of the Mamaroneck M&T Bank branch. “These programs directly align with the mission of the M&T Charitable Foundation; to establish meaningful partnerships and amplify impact as we build inclusive communities across M&T Bank’s footprint. We always look forward to seeing the incredible work of the participants and hear the positive impact the program has had on them”.
The goal of both programs is to provide local high school students with real-word filmmaking and content creating experiences. The grant will be utilized to enhance the resources available to participants in both programs:
Launched in 2023, the Filmmaker Project program gives high school students paid filmmaking experience, mentorship and portfolio-building opportunities that prepare them for careers in filmmaking. The program typically marks a first venture into the professional world as paid filmmakers, an empowering milestone that validates their talent and ensures their creative voices are heard and valued.
“This continued support from The M&T Charitable Foundation is a testament to the value of community-driven media,” said Matt Sullivan, executive Ddrector of LMC Media. “It furthers our goal of ensuring that every young aspiring filmmaker and content creator in the community has the opportunity to find their voice.”
The M&T Charitable Foundation is the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank. It supports a wide range of nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life for customers, employees and neighbors in the communities M&T serves. Their focus areas include education, health care, human services and the arts.
