
Derek Anderson, MPH, FACHE, president, Northern Westchester Hospital, Northwell Health in Mount Kisco was named chair of the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association (NorMet), a voluntary position. His two-year term expires Dec. 31, 2027. NorMet represents hospitals in seven counties in New York’s Hudson Valley. It advocates for reasonable and rational health-care regulation and legislation. NorMet is affiliated with the Suburban Hospital Alliance of New York State (SHANYS), which oversees lobbying activities for NorMet and its sister organization on Long Island, the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council.
In this role at Northern Westchester Hospital since 2020, Anderson directs daily operations and strategic growth. He previously served the Northwell system as associate executive director of North Shore University Hospital. At both facilities, he oversaw major capital projects and improvements and added specialized programs.
Anderson is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on multiple regional health-care boards. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah, a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University, and a project management certificate from the Harvard School of Public Health.
The Suburban Hospital Alliance of New York State advocates on behalf of hospitals in the Hudson Valley and Long Island regions. It engages key lawmakers and regulatory decision-makers in Albany and Washington to ensure reasonable and rational health care policy prevails.
The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council represents the not-for-profit and public hospitals on Long Island. It works in conjunction with the Suburban Hospital Alliance of New York State to advance legislative and regulatory priorities. NSHC serves as the local and collective voice of hospitals on Long Island.
The Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association represents the not-for-profit and public hospitals in the Hudson Valley region.
