
Northwell’s Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) in Mount Kisco has appointed Anna Komorowski, M.D. as chief of hematology and medical oncology. In this role, Komorowski will oversee the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient hematology and cancer services, focusing on enhancing patient care, service quality and program growth. She will also lead oncology research initiatives and expand the department’s role in the internal residency program, helping advance the hospital’s growth and academic mission.
Komorowski joined Northwell Health in 2017 and has served as medical director, and most recently as regional director of the Westchester Northwell Health Cancer Institute (NHCI), a position that includes oversight of Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow and that she will maintain alongside her new role. She is also an assistant professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Prior to joining the health system, she was an attending physician at Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital, as well as an instructor of medicine at New York Medical College.
Throughout her tenure at Northwell, Komorowski has made considerable contributions to institutional leadership, serving on various key committees focused on transfusion oversight, medication safety, women’s health initiatives and data protection. She has also played an integral role in enhancing the breast cancer program at Northwell’s Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Komorowski has authored nearly 20 peer-reviewed publications in the fields of oncology, critical care and internal medicine and has presented widely on breast cancer, immunotherapy and cancer prevention. She has been recognized for her leadership and innovation in the field.
Raised in a family of doctors, Komorowski earned her medical degree from the Medical University of Warsaw in Poland and completed a family practice internship at Warsaw’s Central Clinic Hospital. She went on to pursue an internal medicine residency at Wakefield Division Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, where she served as chief resident and a hematology and medical oncology fellowship at New York Medical College in Valhalla.
