Big Y Foods Inc. announced a series of promotions within the company as part of its continued focus on nurturing talent, fostering a culture of growth and recognizing the hard work and passion of its employees. In addition to its appointments in Massachusetts, Big Y elevated Connecticut residents Danielson Ellington, Bailey Napierata, John M. Wrynn Jr., Brittany Godin, Robin M. Lavorgna and Jeffrey S. According to Michael J. Galat, vice president of employee services, “At Big Y, we are committed to providing the tools and training necessary to support our employees in their development. We are proud and inspired as they personally develop their own skills in order to take on these new levels of responsibility.”
Big Y Foods is one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England operating throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut, including supermarkets, Table & Vine Fine Wines and Liquors and Big Y Express gas and convenience locations with over 10,000 employees. It has been recognized by “Forbes” magazine as a Best-in-State Employer in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and in 2023 for both Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity and for Women. Founded in 1936 by brothers Paul and Gerald D’Amour, the store was named after an intersection in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where two roads converge to form a “Y.”
