United Way Coastal and Western Connecticut’s Women United (UWCWC) hosted its Turning Purpose Into Action Luncheon March 30 at First Presbyterian Church in Stamford, convening community leaders, advocates and changemakers for a powerful conversation on civic leadership and public service.
Moderated by Annie Hughes, the panel featured Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons and Coralys Santana, who shared candid insights on navigating leadership, advancing community impact, and balancing the demands of public and professional life. The discussion highlighted the importance of representation, resilience and sustained civic engagement in shaping stronger, more equitable communities.
The event also welcomed Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas, whose presence underscored the critical role of civic participation and voter engagement across Connecticut.
“Women are leading change in every sector and conversations like this create space to learn, connect and take meaningful action,” said Isabel Almeida, president and CEO of United Way Coastal and Western Connecticut. “Women United (WU) is proud to bring together leaders and community members who are committed to turning purpose into impact.”
Attendees had the opportunity to connect with peers, reflect on their own leadership journeys, and explore actionable ways to engage in civic life, from advocacy and volunteering to participating in local and state government processes.
