Since 1992, the Children’s Dream Foundation (CDF) located in Rye Brook, New York, has provided grants to health-care organizations to ensure that the highest pediatric health care, especially emergency services, is available to all children in New York’s Hudson Valley region. Currently, CDF is the only organization in this region specifically working to advance pediatric emergency medicine.
CDF began as a “Dream” to help build a world-class children’s hospital and regional trauma center. Though a major metropolitan center, prior to 2004, there was no dedicated advanced health-care facility for children and their families between New York City and Albany. In its early years, CDF was successful in helping to raise substantial funds for the construction of the state-of-the-art Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, New York. Today, CDF works with community hospitals and health centers to support ongoing pediatric emergency care initiatives.
CDF provides grants in three main areas:
Pediatric Treatment Facilities and Equipment. As demand for emergency facilities has risen, CDF has supported area hospitals by donating pediatric treatment areas and specialized equipment that is uniquely suited for babies and children.
Training for Medical Personnel. To save the lives of children in life-threatening emergencies, CDF makes grants for training equipment and training sessions for medical personnel.
Preventative Care. CDF believes that good preventive care is the best way to give the consistent care that keeps children from visiting emergency rooms. Grants are given to health centers for crucial health care programs.
