Suffern-based General Patent Corporation (GPC) announced Feb. 17 it had settled a lawsuit against several companies brought on behalf of its client Rehncol for its “Web-Based Prediction Marketplace” patent.
GPC, a patent-licensing and patent-enforcement film, finalized the settlement in infringement lawsuits with Pregame L.L.C. and National Sports Services, both based in Las Vegas, with Ontario Limited in Ontario, Canada, and with Entertainment Corp. based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The lawsuit was filed in the Eastern District of Texas. The four defendants agreed to settle; terms were not disclosed. This patent was the subject of a previous lawsuit that resulted in a settlement and six licenses for its use. GPC represents Rehncol as its exclusive licensing agent.
“We are pleased to have reached an amicable settlement with four of the defendants in this lawsuit, and we look forward to settling with the rest of them,” said Paul Learner, GPC”™s senior vice president and general counsel.
“Rehncol, Winning Edge and Betbrokers are very pleased that General Patent has licensed 10companies for our patent,” said Wayne Root, CEO of Winning Edge International Inc. Winning Edge and Rehncol are both subsidiaries of Betbrokers PLC (LSE: BETB).
