
BRISTOL – IDEX Health & Science LLC is set to lay off 73 employees at its 110 Halcyon Drive facility in two phases in July and October as it closes operations there, the company announced in a WARN notice to the state Department of Labor on May 5.
The company, which is a subsidiary of IDEX Corp. of Northbrook, Illinois, said it plans on closing the Bristol plant on or about Oct. 30. IDEX Health & Science did not give a reason for the closure in the WARN notice from Jenniffer Meiring, vice president of human resources.
Its layoffs will take place in two 14-day intervals starting July 1 and Oct. 30 and ending on Nov. 13. A majority of the positions being eliminated are machinists (25) and assemblers (13).
IDEX Health & Science has been located in Bristol, CT, since 2006, when IDEX Corp. acquired the facility formerly known as Eastern Plastics Inc. The site, which specialized in plastic manifolds and fluidic assemblies, was originally founded in 1960.
IDEX Health & Science LLC manufactures specialized, high-precision components for the life science and diagnostics industries, focusing on optofluidic solutions. Its parent company develops, designs, and manufactures fluidics systems, optics systems, fire and rescue equipment, and other specialty engineered products.
