Traveler satisfaction with airports descended significantly in the past year, a new J.D. Power & Associates survey shows, as travelers vented frustration with flight delays and cancellations caused by weather, air traffic and staff cutbacks.
The Westlake Village, Calif., company assessed airport accessibility, check-in, security procedures, terminals, baggage claim, and food and retail services.
Dallas Love Field in Texas was judged the top airport in the country by flyers; Bradley International Airport north of Hartford was middle of the pack in Love Field”™s peer group of the 20 smallest airports included in the study.
Chicago Midway International was judged the best among mid-sized airports, one rung ahead of LaGuardia International Airport which scored high marks in every category save food and retail.
Philadelphia International led the 20 largest airports, ahead of John F. Kennedy International Airport at seventh and Newark International Airport at ninth.
New York”™s Westchester County Airport was not included in the survey.
