BRIDGEPORT – The former downtown Holiday Inn site has officially taken the next step toward creating much-needed affordable or workforce housing with Connecticut Housing Partners’ purchase of the property.
The sale of the property, which became an apartment building in 2022, was finalized on Sept. 22, according to Connecticut Housing Partners CEO Renee Dobos.
“Today we closed on Park City Place, which was the old Holiday Inn in downtown Bridgeport,” she said in a video released on the nonprofit’s Facebook page. “It was rehabilitated by a market redeveloper, and we purchased it from him. In time, as people move out, we will be converting every unit into an affordable apartment. We are very proud to be doing this for the community in Bridgeport.”
Connecticut Housing Partners purchased the building from 1070 Main St. LLC for an undisclosed amount. In 2022, the LLC purchased the former Holiday Inn for $6.5 million. As of 2024, the building was appraised by the City of Bridgeport for $12.34 million, according to property records.
Haynes Construction, which is a sponsor of Connecticut Housing Partners organization, supporting its efforts to provide affordable housing, including the recent conversion of the former Holiday Inn in Bridgeport into 97 units. CHP acquired the hotel in September 2025 and is converting it into workforce housing, with state funding and plans to use part of the building for their own headquarters.
Through a $22 million grant from the state Department of Housing, CHP will convert the 95-bedroom hotel into 97 affordable housing units for Bridgeport residents. The nonprofit also announced it will move its headquarters to the 1070 Main St. building from its offices in Trumbull when the renovations are complete.
