As noted in Wake Up With Westfair and Jeremy Wayne”™s Table Talk review, L”™escale, the popular Mediterranean-style restaurant at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor, was scheduled to close its doors last Thursday, Dec. 1, for a refresh and rebrand. That has not happened.
Instead under a new licensing agreement, the restaurant will remain open through New Year”™s Eve, one of the busiest seasons in hospitality, then close for an up-to-three-month renovation. Under the agreement, Greenwich Hospitality Group, which owns the Delamar, will operate the restaurant. Executive chef Frederic Kieffer, general manager David Fletcher and their team will stay in place.
As Rick Wahlsted, leesee and founding owner of the restaurant, said in a statement: “We have had an overwhelming response to L”™escale”™s planned closing from our fantastic clients, who made their voices heard. Seeing L”™escale continue what it has been doing at the Delamar for the foreseeable future is a very good thing. I am confident that the restaurant is in good hands and will continue to flourish.”
Added Charles Mallory, founding CEO of Greenwich Hospitality Group: “In 1999, my old friend, famed restaurateur Jean Denoyer, came to me with the concept of an elegant waterfront restaurant evocation of what one would find on the French Riviera. His idea led to what became L”™escale.” Mallory went on to say: “L”™escale is and always has been an exemplary culinary destination, and it will continue to delight guests and welcome private events for years to come.”
