Next Step Living, a home energy consulting company, has opened its first New York office in Purchase, from which it will serve Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties. The Boston-based company has leased space at 2900 Westchester Ave.
The company provides no-cost in-home evaluations to assess homeowners”™ energy sustainability and cost-saving solutions for energy use. The 7-year-old company also recently launched a commercial energy-efficiency product, the EcoThermal Filter System, that gathers heat from ovens and disperses it to heat water for food preparation and dishwashers.

With its expansion into New York, Next Step Living also will extend its 2-year-old partnership with The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC to provide home energy efficiency information to grocery shoppers at Stop & Stop stores in Westchester and Rockland counties.
Stop & Shop officials said the program in its new England stores has led about 7,000 customers to have home energy evaluations, and about 1,550 of them have air -sealed and insulated their homes for additional energy efficiency. Those measures by homeowners collectively have prevented the emission of more than 5,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide and have produced more than $1 million annually in energy savings, according to the grocery chain.
Next Step Living officials said its home energy assessments have helped New England homeowners achieve more than $25 million in energy savings, the estimated impact of which is an annual carbon emissions reduction of more than 94,000 metric tons.
Next Step Living also has an office in New Haven, Conn.
