A teen drug counseling and treatment center in Shrub Oak will close its doors in June and lay off 56 employees, according to a notice filed with the state Department of Labor.
The Phoenix House Academy on Stoney Street serves youths between the ages of 14 and 20 through drug and alcohol counseling and therapies, while providing on-site high school credits as well as vocational programs and classes.
The facility is expected to close June 3, the state notice said.
A spokesperson for Phoenix House could not immediately be reached for comment.
Phoenix House, the nonprofit operator of the center, has facilities and addiction treatment programs in nine states and Washington, D.C. In New York state, Phoenix House has 19 other locations, according to its website.
