Renowned performance artist Jonathan Kruk, brought his presentation of stories from Greek mythology to sixth grade students at Hommocks Middle School. In two performances on April 23 and 24, Kruk introduced the students to the Greek Gods and told their stories of how they came to be and how they ruled the lives of ancient Greece.Â
During the performance 15 students portrayed the major gods, introducing each to their fellow students.Â
Kruk is a master storyteller renowned for his dramatic solo shows of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and “A Christmas Carol,” which he has been performing solo for Historic Hudson Valley since 2010.   He has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, The Today Show, BBC and the Travel Channel. He’s written two books on Hudson Valley lore, has made several award-winning recordings, and is a perennial favorite at schools, libraries, festivals, and historic sites. Currently, Kruk is the Archdiocese of New York School Storyteller.   Â
The presentation was sponsored by Hommocks Middle, the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club and was arranged and coordinated by Hommocks social studies teacher and department chair Andrew Scopp, with the help of assistant principal Adriane Hirsch-Klein.Â
The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions mission is to support, with funding, volunteers and advocacy and local service groups by bringing community leaders together to determine needs, resources and achieve solutions. The LM Lions are part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization of over 1.4 million members. Â
