Netanyahu: A warrant for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been issued by the International Criminal Court. Also being sought are former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and a senior Hamas official. The court said it has good reason to believe that the three committed war crimes. Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that by naming the Israeli officials the court ignores the fact that Israel was attacked by Hamas. Whether there actually will be attempts to make the arrests remains to be seen.
Airstrikes: The BBC reports that officials in Gaza say that at least 66 people were killed in overnight airstrikes by Israel on northern Gaza. Several houses filled with refugees were reportedly hit. Other strikes in southern Gaza were reported, with another 24 people reported killed. The U.N. said today that almost no humanitarian aid has been delivered in northern Gaza in more than a month.
Trump merchandise: He’s tried selling steaks, wine, water, gold sneakers, $100,000 watches and more, and now Donald Trump is selling guitars. Trump yesterday started selling guitars, some of which cost as much as $10,000. There are four different models, some electric. Some Trump guitars have an American flag and the slogan “Make America Great Again.” The most expensive ones have Trump’s autograph.
Google: The Department of Justice has asked a federal judge to force Google to sell off its web browser Chrome. The DOJ says that forcing Google to sell the web browser could resolve what it calls Google’s illegal monopoly in the search engine field. An August court decision found that Google’s deals with companies such as Apple to make Google the default search engine on their devices created its dominance in the search area that violates federal law. Â
Missile: Ukraine says that Russia has fired an intercontinental ballistic missile that landed in its territory. The Ukrainians say the ICBM traveled more than 600 miles to hit its target. If the report is true, this would be the first time an ICBM has been used in combat. Russia’s ICBMs can carry nuclear warheads. If an ICBM actually was fired by Russia, it would be against the background of the U.S. approving Ukraine firing long-range missiles supplied by the U.S. into Russia.
Journalists: Donald Trump has issued a message urging Republicans in Congress to kill bipartisan legislation that would protect journalists from government interference. The bill is called the PRESS Act, the Protect Reporters From Exploitative State Spying Act. It would block the government from forcing journalists to reveal their sources and prevent the government from seizing materials from then by subpoena or other means. Trump has called journalists he doesn’t like enemies of the people. The legislation has been passed by the House but Republicans in the Senate have delayed acting on it.
