If it’s June, then it must be time for Greenwich Polo Club.
Each spring, the high-goal venue, co-founded in 1981 by Peter M. Brant, draws such top players as Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Hilario Ulloa, Nacho Figueras and Nic Roldan. The club is home to Brant’s White Birch team, which has won the most high-goal tournaments over the past 25 years, including the U.S. Open Polo Championship in 2005.
Play takes place Sundays in Greenwich’s pastoral backcountry, beginning with the American Cup this Sunday, June 7. It’s followed by the East Coast Silver Cup June 14, 21 and 28; the East Coast Gold Cup July 5, 12 and 19; and the East Coast Open Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 and 13, before CS1 Greenwich Show Jumping takes the field (the size of nine gridirons) Sept. 26 and 27.
Audi and InteractiveBrokers are the premier sponsors. Audi, the official vehicle, is the presenting sponsor of the East Coast Open with InteractiveBrokers the presenting sponsor of the East Coast Gold Cup. You can find the official and associate sponsors here.
