Rob Reiner death investigation
Nick Reiner is “responsible” for the deaths of his parents, legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, Los Angeles police said. The 32-year-old was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail. A source said Reiner was seen arguing with his father at a holiday party at Conan O’Brien’s home on Saturday. A day later, the beloved Hollywood couple was found dead in their Brentwood residence. The double homicide case was due to be presented to the Los Angeles County district attorney today, when prosecutors will decide what charges to pursue.
Trump again denigrates Reiner
As Republicans and MAGA Trump backers continue to join a growing chorus of voices criticizing Donald Trump for his tasteless internet posts about actor and director Rob Reiner who was murdered Sunday along with his wife, Trump has continued his attack on Reiner and today called Reiner a deranged person. “This is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered,” said Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie. Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy said, “President Trump should have said nothing.” Congressman Mike Lawler, a Republican who represents New York’s 17th Congressional District, said that what Trump did is wrong and “it’s a horrible tragedy that should engender sympathy and compassion from everyone in our country, period.”
Investigation continues into Australia attack
New details are emerging about the two suspects in the Bondi Beach massacre and their likely links to ISIS. Authorities say the father and son duo accused of carrying out the Hanukkah attack had recently traveled to an island in the Philippines known for Islamist insurgency. Officials believe the alleged gunmen underwent military style training while there. The two suspects targeted Jewish Australians celebrating the first night of Hanukkah, authorities said. The attack, which killed 15 people, is Australia’s worst mass shooting in almost 30 years.

U.S. kills eight in new boat strikes
The U.S. military carried out strikes against three alleged drug-trafficking boats in the Pacific Ocean on Monday, killing eight people, according to U.S. Southern Command. At least 95 people have now been killed in strikes on suspected drug boats as part of a campaign that the Trump administration says is aimed at curbing narcotics trafficking. The administration has not provided evidence that the boats and people killed were involved in drug smuggling. A briefing on the strikes for senators was scheduled for today by Secretary of State Rubio and Defense Secretary Hegseth. They have refused to release the full video of the U.S. attacking survivors of one of the boats that was attacked.
Trump sues BBC
President Donald Trump has sued the British Broadcasting Corporation for $10 billion over a documentary that Trump’s lawyers described as defamatory. Trump accused the BBC of defaming him in its reporting about his speech to the crowd that wound up attacking the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump is seeking $5 billion in damages for each of the lawsuit’s two counts. This is the latest in a series of lawsuits by Trump against news media organizations. These have included suits against CBS News, The New York Times, ABC and Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal.
