NEW STATEN ISLAND SITE FOR ENTA

ENT AND ALLERGY ASSOCIATES L.L.P. (ENTA) has embarked on an ambitious expansion of its Staten Island office. In March 2014, the Staten Island office of ENTA will relocate to 1 Teleport Drive from its current address at 1887 Richmond Ave. The new, larger office will include 16 exam rooms, three of them for allergy. The in-house audiology suite will include two audiology booths, an advanced audiology testing room and a hearing aid dispensary. To enhance the range of available services, ENTA also announced that its four-bed sleep lab will be at the new 1 Teleport Drive location, ensuring that the practice maintains comprehensive care at all of its 40 facilities. “When the opportunity to relocate our Staten Island office arose, we leapt at the chance to provide more exam rooms, more technology and further space for growth,” said Dr. Wayne Eisman, ENTA president.

A PARTNERSHIP IS LAUNCHED

SOUND SHORE MEDICAL CENTER”™S LUDINGTON ADULT DAY PROGRAM in New Rochelle is partnering with two, local not-for-profits facilitated by Mary Jo Jacobs, a candidate for Westchester County Legislature.

During an August visit to Ludington, Jacobs sought input from her potential constituents about their needs and concerns. In addition to their concerns about emergency preparedness for seniors living alone and transportation to food pantries, the registrants mentioned a renewed need for materials to continue one of their cherished activities, sewing. A group of registrants have several ongoing projects that include making hats for newborns in Sound Shore”™s neonatal intensive care nursery as well as creating patchwork quilts for area homeless shelters. Without material these creative outlets would be lost. Jacobs put her networking skills to work and reached out to Operation Prom and Family Services of Westchester”™s The Sharing Shelf.

With the donation of dresses from Noel D”™Allacco of Operation Prom, eight skirts have already been created and donated back to the community. In addition, the seamstresses at Ludington will be helping Deborah Blatt the coordinator of The Sharing Shelf mend clothing.

UNITED WAY AWARD WINNER

NEW ROCHELLE DAY NURSERY is a 2013 Local Presence Program grant recipient of the United Way of Westchester and Putnam located at 336 Central Park Ave., White Plains. More than $2,000 was awarded following the recommendations of the Sound Shore United Way Local Presence Committee led by Angela Brock-Kyle and attorney Frederick P. Wiener.

These modest grants awarded by United Way”™s Local Presence Program help fund community-based health and human service organizations that do not currently receive United Way funding. Organizations that receive funding share with United Way the fundamental belief that all people deserve a chance at a quality education, enough income to support a family, and opportunities for a healthy lifestyle.

United Way and New Rochelle Day Nursery are aligned in a desire to make sure young children have quality early childhood educational experiences to set the stage for learning.

“The donation that we received from United Way will help the New Rochelle Day Nursery with daily operating expenses, so that we can provide a safe, nurturing and educational environment for the children that we care for,” said Sabrina Delgado, executive director. “In these tough economic times, this grant will allow us to continue operating our nursery.”
