Xand Corp., a Hawthorne-based data storage center and managed IT service provider, last week announced it had acquired Access Northeast, a competitor based in Marlboro, Mass.
The company also reported it was close to finalizing the acquisition of a second managed IT services firm, but could not disclose additional information.
The merger, announced April 3, comes just six months after Xand was bought by private equity firm ABRY Partners L.L.C., based in Boston.
Xand CEO David Struwas said the move represents part of the technology firm”™s long-term strategy of developing a larger network of data storage and management facilities across the Northeast.
“Access Northeast was a perfect match for us because their culture is very similar (and) the size of the company is very similar as far as revenue and cash flow,” Struwas said. “We think this is a good business and we see the market growing more and more. That”™s why we”™re expanding.”
With the acquisition, Xand now owns 140,000 square feet of available data storage and server space spread between locations in Hawthorne, Marlboro, and Waterbury, Conn.
For the time being, both Xand and Access Northeast will continue to operate as autonomous companies while the companies begin to integrate their two systems and form the new executive team.
Former Access Northeast CEO Rob Stephenson will serve as chief marketing officer, joining Struwas and current Xand chief financial officer Bob DeSantis. Xand”™s headquarters will remain in Hawthorne.
