The luxury apparel retailer joins such names as Neiman Marcus, J.Crew, J.C. Penney, and Chuck E. Cheese to file for bankruptcy over the past few months.
Employees at the restaurant were first furloughed temporarily on March 17, a move that was originally envisioned to last six months or less.
The store claimed it served "the absolute best coffee you have ever tasted!"
The Fairfield location is the only store in the chain that is currently closed.
The store is one of seven Trader Joe's locations nationwide that has been temporarily closed.
The retailer's sole remaining Connecticut store will be in New Haven.
The 14-store chain began in 1933 as a fruit-and-vegetable stand on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
The owners cited "high rent prices, other operational cost increases and decline in local shopping."
In Fairfield County, Olympia Sports will be closing its locations in Danbury, Newtown and Westport.
In October, Sears filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court in White Plains. It announced the planned closing of more than 140 stores but Yonkers was not among them.
"Please remember your Ridgefield stores during a time when Amazon is breaking all online records," said store owner Emma Hardiman.
The Westport location opened in 2014 at the former site of home and garden store Pierre Deux, which had closed in 2011.
