Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins has appointed Carin Horowitz, LMSW as the new director of the Office for People with Disabilities. The appointment comes as part of Jenkins ongoing commitment to ensuring that all people are included and welcomed, have equal access to programs and facilities, and receive accommodations to fully participate in life in Westchester County.
Jenkins said, “Our Office for People with Disabilities stands as a promise — guaranteeing access, protecting rights and providing support for every resident so that no one is left behind. We are proud to continue that mission with strong leadership, and I’m thrilled to welcome Carin Horowitz as the new director of the Office for People with Disabilities. Her passion and experience will be invaluable as we work to build a more inclusive and accessible Westchester for all.”
Horowitz said, “…My goal is to build strong partnerships with community members, advocates and local organizations across the county to ensure that every person has access to the resources they need to succeed.”
Horowitz has served as chair of the Westchester County Advisory Council on People with Disabilities since February 2022, where she was responsible for advising the county executive on how to improve services and increase opportunities for county residents of all ages with disabilities. Horowitz previously worked as Regional Transition Training Specialist for Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES.
