
Northwell’s Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, New York, has been named a High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care by “U.S. News & World Report for 2026.” This prestigious accolade is the highest designation awarded by U.S. News in its annual evaluation of maternity care, underscoring the hospital’s dedication to delivering safe, supportive and evidence-based care to expectant mothers and their babies. It also emphasizes Phelps Hospital’s unwavering commitment to innovation, health equity and addressing key challenges in maternal health.
The High Performing recognition highlights Phelps Hospital’s exceptional outcomes and a patient-centered approach, as evaluated by critical quality metrics.
U.S. News, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, evaluated 899 hospitals nationwide for its 2026 maternity care edition, awarding the top honor to only 55.1% of the facilities reviewed. It began evaluating maternity care hospitals in 2021 to help guide expectant parents in making informed decisions about the maternity services that best meet their family’s needs.
