On June 2, the Progress Pride Flag was once again raised over the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains in celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
“Flying the Progress Pride Flag is a powerful symbol of a unified Westchester,” said Westchester County Executive George Latimer. “Our county is dedicated to being inclusive of all communities, regardless of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. We encourage all residents and allies to join us in this important celebration as we honor and uplift our LGBTQ+ community.”
Added The LOFT CEO Judy Troilo: “Raising the Pride flag is more than a symbolic gesture. It’s a powerful declaration of visibility and acceptance. It stands as a reminder that love is universal and that every individual deserves to be seen, respected and celebrated. Pride Month is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a beacon of hope for a brighter, more inclusive future.”
“This year, our advisory board is proud to honor the dedicated efforts of LGBTQ-affirming medical professionals,” LGBTQ Advisory Board member Bruno S. Villazhinay Matute said. “Their work in providing compassionate and equitable care is essential to the well-being and health of our community. By recognizing these professionals, we underscore the critical importance of health equity and the need for accessible, affirming health care for all members of the LGBTQ community.”
Businesses are also marking World Pride Month. Throughout June, Jean-Georges Vongerichten will be featuring a special Pride Month cocktail at The Inn at Pound Ridge and his New York City restaurants. For every cocktail sold, Jean-Georges Restaurants will donate $1 to the Ali Forney Center, a Manhattan nonprofit that seeks to protect LGBTQ+ young people from the harm of homelessness.
