The weekend nor’easter that hit the East Coast left about 2,000 electric customers without power, according to United Illuminating and Eversource.
As of 10 a.m. morning, 810 customers in Bridgeport, Fairfield, and Easton had been affected by the storm, with 643 of them restored so far, according to a UI spokesperson. As for Eversource customers, a total of 1,125 residents lost power in the municipalities of Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton. Most of the outages occurred in Ridgefield (568) and Wilton (255).
The coastal storm continued to bring heavy rain, coastal flooding, high surf, dangerous rip currents, and gusty winds to the East Coast into early Tuesday.
A coastal low along the Mid-Atlantic Coast on Monday will continue to move northeastward along the coast to New Jersey and then move eastward out over the Atlantic Ocean by Tuesday.
The combination of persistent, strong onshore winds, high surf, and highastronomical tides may lead to significant coastal flooding in some East Coast communities potentially causing beach erosion.
Coastal residents are urged to heed their local National Weather Service forecasts and warnings and always follow guidance from local officials.
