The operator of 34 Metro-North station parking lots in New York has switched its provider of mobile app payments to Passport of North Carolina.
The Charlotte-based financial technology company took over in 
December as the official mobile payment app for parking at all New York Metro-North lots operated by Laz Parking. Laz manages 15,000 Metro-North spaces in lots ranging from Yonkers and Mount Vernon up to Tenmile River and Wassaic in northern Dutchess County.
The PassportParking app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, allows users to monitor and extend parking sessions remotely, receive alerts and notifications about parking sessions, view payment history and receive emailed receipts.
Passport took over from previous mobile payment provider, Parkmobile. Passport also built and runs the White Plains parking payments app, ParkWhitePlains, as well as parking permits for the New York City Housing Authority. The company operates in more than 5,000 locations worldwide and just raised $43 million from private equity firm Bain Capital Ventures.
A Passport spokesperson said the company has more than 150,000 users throughout Westchester County, while the White Plains app is approaching 1.5 million transactions since launching in May 2015.
