The developer Yonkers BV AMS LLC is expected to make a presentation to the Yonkers Planning Board tonight for an informal review of a proposal for building two 41-story apartment towers at 41 Buena Vista Ave. The project would be undertaken in two phases, with a total estimated cost of $425 million. There would be a total of 873 apartments in the two towers.
The residential towers would sit atop a six-story podium that would have  889 parking spaces. The project also would contain approximately 4,800 square feet of retail space.
Attorney Mark Weingarten of the White Plains-based law firm DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkehr LLP emphasized in a letter to the Planning Board that at this point the developer is only seeking an informal review.
“The Property consists of approximately 1.14 acres and is the site of the former Teutonia Hall, which was constructed in 1892 as a German-American music and literary venue, and had been vacant for more than 25 years before it suffered a significant fire in 2013, and was demolished in 2014,” Weingarten said.
AMS has proposed undertaking extensive development in Yonkers that would produce a total of 3,556 residential units, approximately 84,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and other commercial space, approximately 30,000 square feet of office space and 3,904 parking spaces.
The Triple Towers of Yonkers, this is an unwelcomed oversized development. Shows absolutely no regard or consideration of the surrounding area and the massive obstruction it will cause amongst other items.
