Affinity Federal Credit Union has opened a new branch location at the Crossroads Shopping Center at 371 Tarrytown Road in the Town of Greenburgh, with a White Plains mailing address.
Affinity’s six staff members at the new branch include bilingual personnel and two certified wellbeing coaches.
“Many people are still unfamiliar with how credit unions differ from traditional banks and the unique value we offer in terms of personalized service, member-first philosophy, and community focus,” said Shawn Lubitz, vice president of retail branches for Affinity. “We’re excited to bring these benefits to new members in the White Plains area.”

At an opening event, the Affinity Foundation presented checks for $5,000 each to two local organizations. Dare to be Different Westchester focuses on the issue of food insecurity and organizes various community events. It also founded a farmer’s market in Greenburgh. The other organization, Community Center Without Walls has staged arts-oriented events.
Affinity, which is based in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, has 20 branches in the Tri-State area. Information from the National Credit Union Administration indicates that it was chartered in 1935, has 231,052 members and assets of more than $4.1 billion.
Jeanine Cortez, Affinity’s market manager of New York and Connecticut branches said that in a time where financial services are becoming less personalized, the White Plains branch offers services that are “designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to improve their financial wellbeing, build credit, manage debt, and plan for the future.”
