Dominion Voting Systems has announced that Fox News and Dominion have reached a settlement in Dominion’s lawsuit accusing Fox of defamation. The settlement, according to Dominion’s CEO John Poulos, is $797.5 million. Dominion had sued Fox for $1.6 billion.
As of 5:02 p.m., Fox News had not headlined the settlement on its website. However,  Poulos said that Fox had admitted telling lies about Dominion.
Opening arguments had been scheduled for today as the trial in Wilmington, Delaware was due to open. However, the judge called the jury into the courtroom late in the day and advised them that a settlement had been reached.
Poulos said it is an historic settlement. He said that the evidence brought to light in the case underscores the consequences of spreading lies.
“Truthful reporting u=in the media is essential to our democracy” Poulos said.
