The Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance’s membership has gotten spicier with the addition of Manhattan Chili Co., which has a 46-seat restaurant in Pleasantville.
In addition to the restaurant in Pleasantville, which opened in May, Manhattan Chili Co. opened a location in the Grand Central Terminal dining concourse in 2006. The first Manhattan Chili Co. restaurant was opened in the West Village in New York City by Bruce Sterman and Luba Pincus in 1984. The restaurants serve 12 varieties of chili and other Southwestern-inspired dishes.
“We are delighted that our Pleasantville location has enabled us to join the Hudson Valley Food and Beverage Alliance,” the company said in a press release. “The challenge now is to begin to step outside the commodity supply chain to become a Hudson Valley/New York state farm-to-table chain of ”˜electric”™ chili bars. We will initially do all the cooking in our Westchester restaurant/commissary, and then subsequently build a USDA-approved manufacturing facility in the Hudson Valley.”
The Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance is an industry cluster initiative of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. The alliance’s stated goal is to help food and beverage companies in the region work together and market their products around the U.S. The organization includes food businesses, farmers, vegetable growers, beverage makers, distributors and other industry organizations.
Manhattan Chili has been a fantastic addition to Pleasantville. Bruce Sterman’s business is exactly the type of restaurant you want to have in your town – great food locally sourced with an eye towards operating in the most environmentally friendly atmosphere possible.
But definitely go there just because the chili and the home made Sangria are out of this world!
