TRUMBULL – The USA BMX New England Nationals will return to Connecticut on Friday, July 24-Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Indian Ledge Park Road.
BMX riders from around the world will take part in the three-day event that will be held at Trumbull BMX. Fans are welcome to come watch and cheer on their favorite riders as they expertly navigate jumps, twists, and turns along the track.
“People travelled here from 34 states when we last hosted this event in 2024, and the exciting competition generated over $2.35 million in revenue for Connecticut as visitors stayed in area hotels, dined in local restaurants, shopped in the region, and enjoyed nearby attractions,” said Robert Murdock, president of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau.
Justin Travis, director of business development for USA BMX, is looking forward to returning to Trumbull for the competition.
“We love coming back to Trumbull BMX where the local community is very friendly, everyone always feels welcome, and Chris Gombos and his local volunteer club ensure the track is in tip-top shape,” Travis said. “This venue really is becoming one of our ‘classic’ events in the Northeast.”
Gombos, who is the track operator Trumbull BMX for more than seven years, is “stoked” to be hosting the 2026 New England National again.
“These events provide our new local riders with the opportunity to experience BMX racing on its biggest stage and allow our national caliber riders a chance to compete and showcase their talents in their own backyard, while boosting the local economy with over 3,000 visitors each day,” Gombos said.
BMX is a sport that includes the racing of specific type of bicycles on a dirt track. There are two types of racing: traditional BMX racing and Freestyle BMX. In freestyle, riders perform stunts.
“Not only is this event an impressive display of athleticism right in our backyard, but we look forward to welcoming the bikers, their families and fans to experience Trumbull and all that we have to offer,” said state Sen. Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox. “I am grateful to the Town of Trumbull and the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau for working together to bring this event to fruition.”
