The Saks name is slated to return to the Stamford Town Center after a Saks Fifth Avenue store, a longtime tenant in the mall, closed last year.

Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, the fashion discount retail chain of Toronto-based Hudson”™s Bay Co., plans to open a 56,259-square-foot store at the 140 Atlantic St. center in June.
The opening marks Connecticut’s second Saks Off 5th store ”“ the other is at Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets in Clinton.
The Stamford Town Center store will feature an open and modern modular store layout, according to a Saks press release, and carry nearly 1,000 designer labels for men, women and children, including Free People, Judith Ripka, Adriana Orsini, John Hardy, French Connection, Penguin, Vince and Stuart Weitzman.
Previous owners of Saks Fifth Avenue launched its discounted fashion merchandise line in 2000. Hudson”™s Bay Co., the owner of Saks Fifth Avenue”™s luxury retail rival Lord & Taylor, in 2013 paid $2.9 billion to acquire the Saks parent company. The new owner added stores last year in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The company operates about 80 Saks Off 5th stores nationwide, according to its website.
