Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine cleared two key hurdles, with the Connecticut Board of Education approving a license for the new school, and the Liaison Committee on Medical Education granting it preliminary accreditation.
The Netter School plans to matriculate its first class of 60 students next fall in North Haven, with a focus on cranking out primary care doctors who will hang out their shingles in Connecticut. The school has as its clinical partner St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport.
“Adding a medical school ”¦ will continue Quinnipiac’s transformation into a major national university,” said Quinnipiac President John Lahey, in a prepared statement. “Quinnipiac will join fewer than 100 universities in America that have both law and medical schools.”
