Pepperidge Farm’s classic Goldfish brand is about to swim from the cracker to pasta market next week.
The Norwalk-based company will be debuting its Goldfish Mac & Cheese June 24 in Walmart stores nationwide.
“Just like mac and cheese, the Goldfish brand is adored by children and adults alike, so it made perfect sense for us to add the fun and wholesomeness of Goldfish to this favorite classic food,” said Jared Konstanty, senior vice president of snacks, in a press release. “We”™re thrilled to be able to deliver even more smiles to our devoted fans with the launch of Goldfish Mac & Cheese.”
The new product is one of several since the opening of the company’s new Innovation Center in September.
Though Pepperidge Farm cookie and frozen-food sales dropped in 2012 from a year before, sales overall in the company increased 2 percent in 2012 to $2.2 billion and Goldfish cracker sales increased by double digits.
The new Goldfish-shaped pasta will be available in cheddar, nacho cheese, cheesy pizza, and butter Parmesan flavors.
I just discovered this product at our local Wal-Mart Super Center. Since I have trusted Pepperidge Farm products in the past I decided to try it.
I do childcare in my home for 4 young children who will eat ANYTHING I put in front of them.
Today at lunchtime I prepared the Goldfish Mac & Cheese (Cheesy Pizza flavor) according to the directions on the package….. the children all refused to eat more than one bite of it. I did not taste it myself but my husband did. He relayed to me that this product has a disgusting flavor.
Thanks a lot Pepperidge Farm, it will be a long time before I am persuaded to try any other new products you present to the retail market.
