The WorkPlace Inc. received a $500,000 grant to support its Maturity Works for Business program, which trains seniors for employment.
The WorkPlace is based in Bridgeport and is one of five work-force investment boards in Connecticut.
The funds were granted by the U.S. Department of Labor. Companies partnering with The WorkPlace on the program include Bridgeport-based Peoples United Financial Inc.; Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS/Caremark; and Adecco, a Swiss company that offers employment placement services.
Separately, The WorkPlace last month began soliciting applications for $350,000 in state funds it plans to disburse to manufacturing and health-care companies with innovative training approaches.
