STAMFORD – SoundWaters, the region’s leader in climate science education, has announced the appointment of two new members to its board of directors.
Gabrielle Tilley of Mamaroneck, N.Y., and William Hennessey of Stamford bring a combined depth of experience across governance, community engagement, land use and regional development, further strengthening SoundWaters’ ability to expand its impact and advance its mission.
Tilley has more than a decade of experience advising global organizations on culture, ethics and compliance, having held leadership roles at Norwalk-based Terex Corp. and United Technologies of Farmington. In these roles, she advised senior leadership and boards on governance, risk, inclusion and organizational strategy. She currently serves as senior director of global culture and inclusion at Terex.
Beyond her professional work, Tilley has been a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters for over 13 years. She is deeply committed to youth development and expanding access and representation within maritime and environmental spaces.

Hennessey is a land use and real estate attorney with more than 40 years of experience advising clients throughout southwest Connecticut. As a partner at Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP, he has played a key role in numerous major development projects across Stamford and lower Fairfield County. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he teaches land use law.
Hennessey has been widely recognized for his professional leadership, including multiple “Lawyer of the Year” honors from Best Lawyers and consistent top rankings in Chambers USA for real estate and land use.
Tilley and Hennessey join the SoundWaters Board at a moment of continued expansion as the organization deepens its regional impact and advances its mission of connecting students to the environment through hands-on learning.
